EU Launches Universal Charger, More Convenient And Greener

Forgot your phone charger. Panic! This will soon be the case. The European Commission launches a universal standard, which will charge your laptop as your neighbor.

Why exists a universal charger? Two reasons have prompted the commission to convince leading European manufacturers of mobile phones (14 in total have signed Protocol1) to adopt a universal charger: one incompatible chargers is an environmental problem, the other is also an inconvenience for users. We have to change the charger when get the Dell inspiron 1520 battery charged. First, the consumer must get rid of his old charger every time he changes phones, that is to say on average every two years.

Each year, more than 185 million mobile phones are sold in the EU and 50 000 tons of magazines are discarded, generating large amounts of electronic waste from the Dell inspiron 1521 battery. More than a billion unused chargers also would sleep in the drawers of the Europeans. Then there is the purely practical side: who has never found out of battery power with anyone who want to borrow a charger compatibility?

How this new charger will work there? The universal charger will use a Micro USB interface which rep Ondra universal specifications developed by the manufacturers signed after a year and a half of debate, to ensure full compatibility with mobile phones that will all have the same interface and Dell inspiron 1525 battery. When will be the first universal chargers? The first generation of mobile phones universal charger should appear on the market in the coming months.

"It's a gradual process, there is no D-Day," says Charlotte Arwid, spokesman for the commission of industry and entrepreneurship within the EU. "The standard was published in December 2010 and manufacturers have a year to put the universal charger and Dell inspiron 1545 battery on the market," she recalls, noting that it is "difficult to find a date because it is a sensitive issue on commercially. The EU, which hopes that the magazine "will soon be here," says that this new standard should prevail on the market within two years.

All phones will be affected? The MoU is aimed at mobile computer, that is to say that the phones can be connected to a computer with Dell inspiron e1405 battery to share pictures, files, music and so on. It does not concern the mobile phones that are not based data exchange. For now, it does not other portable devices such as MP3 players or cameras, but "the standard could eventually evolve in this direction," imagines Arwidi.w Charlotte (1) The 14 companies that have signed the memorandum of agreement represent over 90% of phones currently sold in Europe.
